College Update # 1



It's time once again for an update on how El Paso's former high school swimmers are doing in college.

On the boys side- Olympic Trial Qualifer Scott Adkins (TCU)competed this past weekend at the Texas Invitational in Austin. While partially shaved and rested, he placed 4th in the 200 Breast with an NCAA Consideration time of 2:01.68. On Saturday, he made his 1st NCAA Consideration time in the 100 breast with a 56.16 placing 10th. Also swimming well the past few months has been BYU's Mike Mullen- He has already been 21.15 early in the season has consistently placed in the top two or three at their meets.

On the girls side- Freshman Lacey Elliott (SMU) also swam at the Texas Invitational this past weekend. She went 23.57 in the 50, placing 13th, and 51.67, finishing 18th. She also been 59 in the 100 Fly, 100 Back, and 1:57 in the 200 Free. She also swims the 200 Free Relay for the Mustangs. Junior Quinn Michie (New Mexico) is still swimming fast for the Lobos. She finished 2nd in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:05.84, setting a school record. She also finished third in the 100 & 200 backs. Brianne McGuirk, who swims for Southwest Missouri State, is also swimming well. She has the teams fastest time in the 200 breast- 2:26.81 and 400 Medley Relay- 4:02.41. And finally the Bernal twins, Christina and Cynthia, are swimming for North Texas. They each went 1:13 in the 100 Breast, and a team best 2:36 (Cynthia), and a 2:38 (Christina) in the 200 breast this past weekend against Houston.
